My Hearts Cry - Arlington TX

Last Saturday “My Hearts Cry” made the four hour trip to Humble Texas to grace us with their presence. They played a gig at Fuel Cyber Cafe with Louisiana natives “The Mid-Summer Classic” which ended up being a very short night seeing as two of the five bands for the night dropped out last minute. None the less the show was fantastic. My Hearts Cry due to the line up changes took the second spot of the night which in my opinion was the perfect spot for them. Their sound was full and thick enough that following a hardcore band was fitting, yet it was poppy and happy enough that opening for a alternative/pop band was a great segue that made the whole night mesh together perfectly.

Now you’re probably picturing a band of four to five guys to get a full and thick sound right? Wrong. My Hearts Cry has a small line up of just three guys! The line-up consists of Jeff (Guitar/Vocals) Jacob (Drums) and Jordi (Keys/Vocals). While this line up seems small they make up for a lack of members with an expanse of talent. The front man Jeff had excellent guitar tone on top of a great vocal range. Jordi impressively played three different keyboards, usually two at one time for the entire night. One keyboard was devoted completely to bass which helped round out their full sound. Drummer Jacob drove the band all night and never dropped a beat, one of the tighter drummers I’ve seen come through Fuel in a while.

When doing a small interview with the band I asked what their drive for continuing to play was, they without thought answered that they want to continue to be an example to anybody that listens to them, not just a good example but a christian example. This I found to be an amazing answer in an ever declining moral society.

In the three year history of the band they have made many great accomplishments including winning the Billboard world wide song contest with their song “Stronger”, their song “Summer Romance” is featured on Six Flags radio, and they are featured on 170 radio stations in the 39 U.S states and 4 Canadian provinces. They’re also sponsored by the ever so tasty Vitamin Water!

Their upcoming plans consist of a tour to L.A. in their van that has 320,000 miles on it! (Hope they don’t have car trouble, but their van did pass inspection today!)
